Diddy‘s son Justin Combs has accepted a full ride scholarship to UCLA.
“Today I am truly blessed and thankful to accept my scholarship and give my full commitment to UCLA,” he said in the statement. “Playing Division I football was a life long dream of mine, and through hard work I was able to achieve it. I am a living testament that with a strong relationship with God, family, and hard work dreams do come true.”
Sean Combs, who has made his mark as a singer, actor, producer and fashion designer, called Justin’s commitment to UCLA “one of the proudest moments of my life.”
“This is everything a father could want for his son, for him to excel at what he loves to do and is truly passionate about,” Sean Combs said in the statement. “Justin is a shining example of what hard work, determination and a strong mentality can achieve. I am honored to call him my son and am happy that he is fulfilling his dream.”
We send congrats to Justin on his academic achievements, however, we agree with a reader on the Baby Center blog who believes that the full scholarship should go to someone who needs it to pay the tuition.

While I’m aware the scholarship is an honor, can’t they just not take it and actually pay and then the scholarship will go to someone that, you know, needs it.
Again, I’m not putting down Justin’s achievements or hard work, I just think it’s silly to give a scholarship to someone who could very well pay the tuition. [via]
Sean’ Diddy’ Combs is one of the Forbes Cash Kings and highest earners in hip hop who rakes in over 300 million dollars a year. Diddy can afford to pay for his son to attend Harvard, Yale or any institution on the planet. That scholarship can help someone else who doesn’t have the money or opportunity to get an education. Diddy bought a $300,ooo dollar car for his son Quincy on his 16th birthday. He has the money! Denzel Washington spoke about how he declined to accept a scholarship for his son so someone else could get the opportunity. Full ride scholarships should be allocated to disadvantaged kids.
